Is starting a blog on your list of new year resolutions every year? Or is improving your existing blog the goal? If answer to both these questions is a ‘yes’, then here’s what you need to begin your blogging journey.
Once you have decided on the niche you want to blog in, you need to decide on the following:
- The blogging platform to use wordpress/tumblr etc?
- Securing the best suited and available domain name along with hosting
- Set up your blog & design
- Set up your social media handles
- Create your content calendar & content
- & finally Start blogging!
It doesn’t end here, the main process begins from here!
Of course creating valuable and original content is one of the most tedious tasks when it comes to blogging, but for most bloggers it is the marketing of their blog that takes a toll.
When I first started blogging I referred to many blogs and free resources online. Here’s a list of 13 such sites that I feel have offered me the most valuable and best resources! Many from this list are popular bloggers that fall under the “must must follow” category but many of these are not so popular sites but have useful nuggets of information. So make sure you follow each of these blogs in order to stay up-to-date and keep learning.
Here is the list of 13 resourceful blogs for every blogger
1. ChrisBrogan Blog – Need motivation as a blogger. This blogs for you
Every blogger needs that push, the motivation to keep going. This blog does just that Chris shares some great insights into content writing and tips on staying motivated as a blogger!
2. Copy blogger Blog – Your Copy writing bible
The motto of this company is ” We Don’t Just Teach Content Marketing — It’s How We Built Our Company” and they stand true to their motto! This blog acts as a brilliant copy writing guide for every blogger.
3. Jeff Bullas – Probably the only blog you need to read to learn social media marketing for your blog.
Jeff Bullas shares brilliant articles on blogging and using social media to gain traffic. I subscribe to his newsletter and his content never fails to surprise me. Every email I get from this blog is worth a read (err..except for some promotional webinar affiliate links…but well we are all here to make money aren’t we..). Apart from this every piece of content by Jeff is great!
4. StartABlog123– Basics of blogging and tutorial format articles. (kind of…)
This blog is started by Gary Dek. His articles are more in form of tutorials.  From how to start a blog to promotion, outreach, on-page SEO, link building strategies, growing traffic, and making money blogging online the blog touches on all elements of blogging.
5. SmartBlogger – When in need for traffic boosting strategies
If you are looking for articles that focus on strategies to help increase traffic to your site, then this blog is a must visit. When I need a ideas on strategies on traffic boosting, I refer to smart blogger. Every time I visit this blog, I learn a trick or two.
6. ProBlogger – Podcasts on blogging & more
Problogger pretty much covers all aspects of blogging. It is a one stop shop for everything blogging However I visit problogger to listen to their podcasts on various topics related to blogging.
7. FirstSiteGuide – A visual guide to blogging
Another great resource for blogging tips and cheat sheets. This blog focuses on visual story telling and explaining. The guy behind this blog is Ogi Djuraskovic who focuses on content that helps people start their blogs and online business.
8. Writtent – Need resource lists and tips on Blog SEO & copy writing? This blog is for you!
For some reason Writtent has not posted a blog for a long time. However the articles that are already published are great reads. Here you will definitely discover new tools and ideas related to SEO & copy writing for blogs.
9. BloggingYourPassion – A blog that can help you define your blogging goals and share quick tips
Blogging Your Passion was founded by Jonathan Milligan. I stumbled upon this blog quite a while back while researching on some marketing templates for my blog. This site has great tcontent in form of infographics and podcasts that share proven blogging tips.
10. Backlinko- Stay loyal to Backlinko for Proven SEO strategies and step-by-step tutorial format articles
Brian Dean’s Backlinko is one of my favorite blogs to go to for new link building strategies. This blog was on my list of top SEO blogs to follow as well. His articles written such that absolutely anyone can replicate his strategies without a hassle. He shares insights into back-linking, keyword strategies, on page SEO , SEM etc… An SEO guide for every blogger.
11. Charles Ngo– This blog is for you if affiliate marketing is your game
I stumbled upon this blog recently and found some great reads on affiliate marketing. I currently don’t use affiliate marketing as a part of my monetizing strategies, however reading this blog I may give it a try soon. Every blogger comes at a stage where he/she wants to give affiliates a try, and Charlesngo.com is a great resource for just that!
12. Ahref’s Blog – It’s all bout keywords
Keyword research is a one of the most important aspects of content writing and blogging as whole. This blog will help you answer many of your questions related to keyword research for blogs.
13.Neil Patel – A go to blog for tips on boosting traffic and monetizing your blog
I am a loyal follower. Have attended many webinars by Neil Patel and all have them have helped in adding something new to my blog. It’s a must read blog for case studies, boosting web traffic strategies and monetizing tips.
