Yes it’s official! Kickstarter is coming to Singapore
Here’s some fab news for all innovators and creators in Singapore and the rest of Asia! Kickstarter -world’s most popular crowdfunding platform has announced it’s launch in Singapore & Hong Kong.
Previously kickstarter only accepted projects from US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Singapore creators needed to have a bank account in any of these countries to activate their campaigns as a part of Kickstarters verification process. With the platform launching in Singapore, we can hope to see these verification processes and policies ease out for the Asian creator.
In an interview with Tech In Asia Julie Wood- the director of global communications for kickstarter said “Now they’ll have the opportunity to become Kickstarter creators, sharing their own ideas with the world and finding the support they need to bring them to life.”
Currently many Singaporeans use kickstarter to keep a track of new and innovative products coming out of various parts of the world. Many Singapore companies have also successfully created and launched campaigns via kickstarter such as the AKI wallet, Zelos & Smart Egg. There have also been some Singapore projects that were not funded such as Stoke & Pickpocket but they still went on with the launch and gained much needed popularity respectively via kickstarter.
With kickstarter in Asia, we will definitely see more innovative projects coming out of Singapore and other parts of Asia.
