Facebook Groups – A Strong Marketing Strategy

However, with revelation by Facebook suggesting 5 to 6% of their 901 million users are fake profiles, there is truth in suggesting that many of these groups are filled with both marketers and spammers. But is this a bad thing?

Well the answer to that is both.. Yes and no.

Facebook groups can be very useful only if you know how to make proper use of them. Here are a few marketing strategies you can leverage on for the best results using Facebook groups.

For Events: Create your own community around an event

One way of ensuring you create strong Facebook groups with large followings and engagement is to setup a group around an event. A good example is HPAIR Asia Conference 2011 Delegates on Facebook. The group has over 300 active members. This group was setup during the conference. As a result, as opposed to using email to interact with the delegates, the Facebook group is used to create a personal connection with delegates and offer added support. The same strategy can work for your business. Give clients a way to get in touch with you and interact during and after an event or other interactions.

Facebook groups are invaluable when you organize or promote lots of events. The people that attend the events will use your group to network and share notes and photos.

For Products & Services: Create a group for your products, services or programs

To know how your products are faring, you have to get feedback from your clients. Facebook groups for individual programs, products or services not only offer real-time feedback from the participants but will also serve as a customer support platform. Such a group will provide more value for your customers.

Discuss Current Events

People want to know what is happening in the industry they love. Joining or setting up a Facebook group that discusses current events in your industry will generate the engagement you desire. On such a group, you can just allow members to discuss the latest happening in your niche. You should also make your contributions to their discussions. At the end of the day, you will be able to get more following and engagement.

It’s all about the members

The best Facebook groups are about their members and how they can provide more value to them. If you create a self-center group, it will certainly fail. That is because a self-center group does not promote engagement. Your members need a voice and you achieve this by making the group to be all about them.

There are innumerable ways to use Facebook groups in your business marketing strategies. The most important point to bear in mind is that the purpose of a healthy group is providing value for the members/ clients. This is the only way you will be able to keep the members active and compel them to participate in discussions.
